Intensive: The Author’s Website
The afternoon workshop will include how to understand and use the following content management system (WordPress, Wix, and Google Blogger):
· Steps in choosing a Theme for a website, writing a Mission Statement, and ideas to develop its over-all Design.
· The Basic operating functions of WordPress, WIX, and Google Blogger, ie, Dashboard: posting, the difference between pages and posts, widgets, plugins, and other options for the appearance of the site.
· Writers Guidelines and including other writers on your site.
· Selection of photos, inserting photos (Meta slider), andrules about using photos.
· How to present a post: creating text, quotes, and addressing references, document length, word count, spacing, paragraphs, etc.
· The significance of the Focus Word, Meta Description, and SEO are important.
· Ways to distribute the announcement of your post via email, WordPress, and MailChimp.
· Ways to evaluate your Website, ie, comments, Google analytics, and MailChimp functions.
Dawn Sooy will show how to create a new website in WIX and how to add various elements to the site.
Kieth Keffer The afternoon session is a hands on workshop for anyone who wants to set up a Blogger site. We'll follow a simple template to create a shell of a site which can be easily added to outside of the workshop.
