Afternoon workshop: Pixels 2 Platform

In the afternoon, Gabriela will interact with attendees in “Pixels 2 Platform”. Many writers feel like building their platform and marketing their books is a long list of things they “should” do. These magic bullet solutions don’t always apply to every writer, and often can become obsolete. Instead of worrying about a laundry list of “to-do” items, this workshop will emphasize the strategy, the why behind the shoulds. Platform is not about tactics, it’s about looking at the entire ecosystem of your author career and developing a plan that applies to your individual goals. We’ll talk about blogging, social media, and pieces of the platform puzzle, and look at how they work together to create an overall strategy for your writing career. This workshop emphasizes two sides of the platform coin: content (what do you blog about?) and promotion (how do you get people to come to your website?).

Members Free, Non-Members $15.00

Members and non-members must register for this event.

Gabriela is the Instigator of DIY MFA, the do-it-yourself alternative to a Masters degree in writing. She earned an MFA from The New School and has helped hundreds of writers get the MFA experience without going to school. She teaches writing at conferences, workshops, and through online courses. She also hosts the podcast DIY MFA Radio. When she’s not teaching or developing new courses, Gabriela enjoys writing middle grade and teen fiction, with a few "short stories for grown-ups" thrown in for good measure. Her book about DIY MFA will be out in July 2016 from Writer’s Digest Books. Website: http://diymfa.com/
