10 WAYS TO MARKET YOUR BOOK IN PERSON So you’ve got a book out. You advertised it on your website, did a couple of book-store events, a blog tour and promoted it on all manner of social media. Trouble is, with literally millions of books available at the press of a button, there’s an awful lot of competition out there. So how else can you get the word out?
In this fun, interactive, presentation, New Jersey author, Jon Gibbs, shares tips and advice on how to promote yourself and your work in person, even if your book’s only available in e-form.
Also, there may be candy.

1:00 - 3:00 pm Afternoon Workshop: Jon Gibbs:
Brilliant Beginnings
Grab your reader by the eyeballs and don't let go!
A great opening line will catch someone's attention, but how do you keep it? What do you do when your first chapter (or entire book) doesn't have monstrous murders, thrilling car chases, or even alien invasions?
In this fun, interactive workshop, we'll study examples of what works (and what doesn't), before looking at techniques we can apply to any story that can keep readers turning those pages.
Please note: This is a hands-on session. Attendees should bring the first ten pages of their current WIP.
Jon Gibbs lectures on creative writing at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ. His humorous talk, Getting Published: 10 Things Every Writer Should Know, was broadcast on local television in 2012..
Jon is the founder of The New Jersey Authors' Network (www.njauthorsnetwork.com) and FindAWritingGroup.com. His middle grade fantasy, Fur-Face (Echelon Press), was nominated for a Crystal Kite Award. The sequel, Barnum's Revenge (also from Echelon Press), came out in March 2013..
