April 25, 2026
9:15 - 10:15 -- Board Meeting: Zoom Opens 9:00
10:15 - 11:15 -- Membership meeting: Success stories, Introduction of new members, Officer reports.
11:15 - 12:15 -- Morning Program: "The Intersection of Poetry and Memoir" with Ray Diskin Black
Historical or public figures aside, writing one’s memoir is the excavation of an ordinary life to find the extraordinary hidden there. To distill one’s life, particularly the more intimate and painful aspects of that life, to the written word can be unsettling, even terrifying. Memoir poetry can free one as a storyteller to get at the deeper truths of life in a way that more lyrically expresses the pain, despair, beauty, magic, and joy in that life. And hopefully in the process, give the reader a richer experience.
