11:15 - 12:15 Morning Program: "Creative Nonfiction 101: Exploring True Stories" with Donna Talarico
Exploring True Stories Donna Talarico, founder and publisher of Hippocampus Magazine, will provide a high-level overview of the creative nonfiction genre (CNF) -- and its many subgenres, from the personal essay to literary journalism. She'll highlight places that publish various forms of CNF from emerging writers, including print and online literary magazines, mainstream outlets, and small presses. This will set the stage for the afternoon workshop, where you can start to think about what you could write.

1:30 - 3:00 - Afternoon Workshop: "Moments and Memories" with Donna Talarico
A Brainstorming Workshop In this workshop, you'll reflect back on people, places, and objects that carry stories. We'll do a few brief writing exercises designed to conjure up memories -- and kickstart your writing. You'll leave with a list of ideas for essays or other CNF -- and maybe even a partial start to your next piece. The only experience necessary is YOUR life experience.
