  The Writers Cafe Open to the public and free. Any person under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend this or any other GLVWG event. Writing is like a muscle. If you don't use it... you lose it! Remember: Put Something on Paper THEN: Come to the Writers Cafe and get instant feedback about your work. All levels are represented from new writers to seasoned professionals. If you would like a Read and Critique, bring about 700 words to read to the group and get instant feedback about your work.  Any genre, fiction or non-fiction, poetry, screenplays or memoirs are all welcome. We will be limited to 26 people, split into two groups so all can be accommodated.  Only the first 20 to register will be able to read their work. There will be a waitlist, so have something available to read on the off chance a space becomes available. Readings will be 11 minutes (more or less) including feedback. 700 words takes about 5-6 minutes to read, so be wise how you use your 10 (more or less)minutes. Meeting will start at 6:50. Schmooze with fellow writers and meet some GLVWG members. Writers Cafe meets at The Cloud via Zoom!

  Using familiar literary and film examples, this discussion will differentiate goal from motivation and will look at how conflict arises from each.  A group workshop exercise that will focus on creating conflict out of goals and/or motivations will follow.
  
  Juilene Osborne-McKnight is the author of the best-selling journalistic history The Story We Carry in Our Bones: Irish History for Americans, now in its fifth printing.  Her newest work (2025) is Storyteller: Irish Myths Legends and Folktales for Americans. She is Professor Emerita from DeSales University where she taught Irish studies and creative writing and served as Chair of Humanities. She is a seanchaí or traditional storyteller in the ancient Irish tradition.
