Even the Eagle needs to build momentum to soar!

Come to the Writers Cafe each Wednesday on Zoom

    Allow Your Writing to Soar!

All levels are represented from new writers to seasoned professionals. Get instant feedback about your work.

If you would like a Read and Critique, bring about 700 words to read to the group. Any genre, fiction or non-fiction, poetry, screenplays or memoirs are all welcome.

We will be limited to 20 readers, split into 2 groups so all can be accommodated.  You can still join the meeting, but only the first 20 to register will be able to read their work. Have something available to read in case a spot becomes available.

Readings will be 11 minutes (more or less) including feedback.

700 words takes about 5-6 minutes to read, so be wise how you use your 10 (more or less)minutes.

Total registration will be limited to 25, because more than that would be impossible to manage.

We will be using Zoom, and you will get an invitation via email when you register, and again the day of the Cafe.

    • Meeting will start at 6:50. Being prompt is appreciated.
    • Writers Cafe meets at The Cloud via Zoom!
    • Schmooze with fellow writers and meet some GLVWG members.

    11:00 - 12:00 Morning Program, Jill Peters:

Team Writing -Dr. Jill Peters, Past President, Greater Lehigh Valley Writers’ Group

Jill was part of the eight person writing team that produced Hear Us Out: Six Questions on Belonging and Belief.  She will talk about the writing process up until when the team received the contract from Fortress Press – which was before the actual writing began. The whole process was highly unusual and broke most of the rules we have been taught about getting published.

1:30 - 3:00 Team Writing We got the contract, now we have to get something to the publisher!

Jill Peters: Team Writing Rev. Dr. Sue Pizor Yoder, Rev. Dr. Bonnie Bates, and Rev. Dr. Steve Simmons

These three will pick up from the point of when we got the contract which is when we started writing feverishly to quickly get something to the publisher.  The team will go on to explain how we organized, how we divided assignments, how we settled differences, how we handled the suggestions from the editor regarding team writing chapter topics, interview questions, chapter titles, writers, and editors.  The editing process with eight people in the room was difficult but we solved that. After publication, the team will explain how we handled speaking, income, and our Launch Party along with other ways we promoted the book.
