How to Sell Your Book at the Book Fair

From Michelle Meeh

As the volunteer organizer at the Book Fair at GLVWG Write Stuff Writers Conference (TM), I want you to know how the book fair will work this year. If you want to sell a book at the conference, the details about how to go about it are spelled out below.

At this year’s conference, the Moravian Book Shop will be available through the day. You can stop by their tables in the Lehigh Room, at lunch, or between sessions to buy books.

In addition to the bookstore table, we will conduct the regular Book Fair in the Lehigh Room, 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday. During that session, authors can sell their books directly, or sign books that are purchased from Moravian, which will continue to sell books in the Lehigh Room. If you want to reserve a spot at the Book Fair, please email me (
meehjm@ptd.net) so we can reserve one for you.

If your book is published by a major publishing house, Moravian will order copies for you. Please send ISBN, Publisher, Title, and Author to Michelle at
meehjm@ptd.net, and copy me. We will pass the information to Moravian. They would like to have all ordering information by the end of February.

If you self-publish or are published by a small publisher, Moravian cannot order your books. In that case, you can sell books in one of two ways: by sitting in the Lehigh Room from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and selling directly, or by giving them to Moravian to sell for you on consignment.

If you plan to sell on consignment, Moravian will take a 40% commission. The advantage of this method is that they will be available for purchase throughout the day. Also, since Moravian will conduct the sale, you will be free to walk around the Book Fair and check out everyone else’s books.

To submit your book for consignment, if you are in the Bethlehem area you can drop in to the Moravian Book Shop and give Janelle your books. Or you can bring copies at the beginning of the conference and the book shop people can take your information there. If you plan to do this, I can send you a form to fill out in advance.

Contact Michelle Meeh at
meehjm@ptd.net if you have any questions.

Best wishes,
Michelle
